Roof Installation Process
New roof installation begins with a clean slate. For new construction, which means the roof sheeting is installed and prepared for the new roof. For a re-roof installation, preparation involves removing the old roofing materials and inspecting the underlying decking to ensure a solid, stable foundation. A protective underlayment is applied to guard against moisture, followed by precise installation of the chosen roofing system—whether asphalt shingles, metal, or a flat roof membrane. Flashing, ventilation, and sealing details are completed with care to create a durable, weather ready roof that enhances your home’s protection, efficiency, and curb appeal.
Pre-Installation
- Inspect the roof deck for rot, soft spots, or structural issues; replace damaged sheathing.
- Verify local building codes for underlayment, ventilation, ice‑barrier requirements, and fastening patterns.
- Check weather conditions — dry, mild temperatures are ideal; avoid wind, rain, and extreme heat or cold.
- Confirm roof pitch is appropriate for the selected roofing system (e.g., shingles require minimum slope).
- Ensure safe access with stable ladders, clear ground area, and fall‑protection equipment
Tear-Off and Surface Prep
- Remove all old roofing materials down to the decking.
- Clean the deck thoroughly—remove nails, debris, and protrusions.
- Install drip edge along eaves and rakes.
- Repair or replace damaged decking before continuing.
Underlayment and Weather Protection
- Install ice & water shield in valleys, eaves, and other vulnerable areas (as required by climate/code).
- Roll out synthetic or felt underlayment, overlapping courses per manufacturer specs.
- Seal all penetrations (vents, pipes, skylights) with proper flashing components.
Roofing System Installation
Depending on the roofing material, steps to install the roofing system vary by type. We install the following types of roofing systems:
- Asphalt Shingles
- Metal Roofing
- Flat Roofing (TPO, EPDM, Torch‑Down)
Ventilation & Flashing
- Install intake and exhaust ventilation to meet code and manufacturer requirements.
- Flash all roof‑to‑wall intersections, chimneys, skylights, and valleys with metal or membrane flashing.
- Seal all fasteners and joints.
Final Inspection & Cleanup
- Inspect all seams, fasteners, and flashing for proper installation.
- Ensure ridge caps and edges are fully secured.
- Remove debris, nails, and leftover materials from the site.
- Document the installation for warranty and customer records.
